Is AI Sending Customers Your Way?
What 240 AI answers on UK pensions reveal
A customer asks AI which pension provider is best. Which sources does it trust, which firms does it name, and would it give the same answer twice?
We put 30 unbranded pension questions to four AI platforms, twice each. Across 240 answers, the platforms disagreed on where to get their information, named providers in only a handful of questions, and changed most of their sources between runs.
Joseph and Anurag walk through what we found, and what it means for acquisition, brand and risk.
What we found
- There is no single AI search: the four platforms drew on very different sources for the same questions.
- Being cited is not being named: AI often uses an organisation’s content without mentioning the organisation.
- Answers do not hold still: most cited sources changed between two runs of the same question.
